Description

The Orchard Farm Cottages are situated on a subtropical fruit farm 1 km outside the village of Hluhluwe. Mango trees on 8 acres of land directly behind the cottages provide the main crop and are harvested from December to February.

There are two cottages and each cottage has bedrooms en suite with an open plan lounge/dining/ kitchen with all the comforts of home, (with DSTV), or bring a good book and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.

Part of the farm, which includes a dam and river frontage, has been set aside for conservation and will soon be available to guests in the form of a self-guided walking trail and picnic facilities.

Although the cottages are self-catering they are within walking distance of the Ilala Weavers complex which includes an African Art Gallery and curio shop, Zulu artefacts museum and a licensed restaurant.

The a la carte restaurant called " The Fig Tree Restaurant " is open for breakfast, lunches and teas from 8am to 4:30pm daily.

Includes 2 air conditioned bedrooms en suite with a separate open plan kitchen/dining/lounge and braai facilities, with DSTV to enjoy. Accommodates 4 guest

Ilala Weavers

Enjoy hours of fascinating experiences and relaxation where some of the highlights include the largest collection of Zulu baskets in the world; locally woven lamps and shades; witness crafts being manufactured and view interesting and unique artefacts collected across Africa.

The Ilala Gallery and curio shop features the largest collection of traditional Zulu baskets under one roof. Comprising a number of rooms with interesting nooks and crannies, visitors can enjoy an adventure shopping experience.

Shop to the rhythm and beat of African music or relax and enjoy a cold drink on the thatched deck overlooking a garden of the yellow African fever trees.

Bring the binoculars and view bird species that you'll identify from our birdersboard while the children are preoccupied exploring the play area.

Directions

From Durban: From the N2 (National Highway), take the Hluhluwe off ramp, follow to Hluhluwe village. At the 4th roundabout turn left, follow the signs to Ilala Weavers. Do not turn towards False Bay / Sodwana – keep straight until gravel road, approximately 1km turn left towards Ilala Weavers. Signposted to The Orchard Farm Cottages.
