Description

Walking down the 8 sleeper-log steps to the bushcamp, greeted by joyful chorus of the myriad of birds that inhabit the area, guests find themselves transposed into another world.  Welcomed perhaps by a Nyala having a quiet drink at the camp waterhole, or even just the buzz of the bush, alive with activity, you will realise that this is as close to paradise as one can get.

The thatched elevated enormous deck, with canvassed sides and enclosed log cabin in the rear comfortably sleeps up to 8 guests in the open air, either under mosquito nets, or just with the fans keeping the air moving gently.

A paved pathway around the back of the deck leads to the very unique, very private bathroom, surrounded by bush.  The big sliding windows render a sense of “bush belonging” allowing one to observe (or be observed) transforming the most mundane of activities into an experience.

The spacious braai area, under an enormous Acacia, also paved with sleeper-logs, a most inviting place to spend long evenings around the fire relaxing, watching the dancing flames.  This leads on to the open rondavel kitchen, fully equipped for the self-catering guest : including a fridge, microwave, gas stove and freezer.

The camp is serviced daily by a very unobtrusive Chivale, who, between 7.00 and 7.30 will announce his arrival with a polite “cough”.  He will efficiently attend to your needs before slipping away unnoticed, only to re-appear when there is something that needs to be done, or to stack the fire for another evening of relaxation.

Situated on Esikhotheni farm, which forms part of the Pongola Game Reserve South bordering on the famous Jozini Lake where the infamous Tiger Fish has eluded countless fishermen. Esikhotheni Bush Camp consists of a large elevated deck, situated on the Mpeti Stream, able to comfortably accommodate 6 to 8 people (bedding and towels supplied), sleeping either inside the wood cabin, or on the deck, weather permitting - an experience not to be missed! (No individual rooms) The open rondavel kitchen is fully kitted for the self-catering guest including a fridge and freezer, stove, etc, and is serviced daily. Firewood & ice are supplied at no extra charge. Whilst the very unique bathroom, situated off the deck, partially surrounded by bush, boasts 5 star facilities, the sense of 'bush belonging' is overwhelming with the huge windows allowing one to observe (or be observed) transforming the most mundane of activities into an unforgettable experience.
